A state trooper reported to be in the process of clearing another accident on I-15 near 800 South had his vehicle involved in another accident last Tuesday. The accident occurred when the wife of the driver involved in the accident showed up at the scene. According to Sgt. Steven Manful of Utah Highway Patrol, the woman made an unsafe lane change to the left, cutting off a red truck. The red truck hit her and was unable to stop, which pushed her car into the back of the trooper’s vehicle. The red truck continued forward and hit the tow truck that was present for the previous accident.
The report added that two drivers were transported to the hospital in stable condition and their injuries were not life-threatening. Tuesday’s storm caused many accidents along the Wasatch Front all throughout the day and into the night as the storm continued. Authorities remind motorists to use caution when driving in the snow and to not follow too closely. In snowy conditions, the most common accident is rear-end collisions. Allow space for your vehicle to stop even if it the road may be icy. In addition, as temperatures begin to drop during these storms, remember to be aware of black ice that tends to be on bridges and places where the sun usually doesn’t hit.
Christensen & Hymas also reminds all motorists to be extra careful these upcoming months. The winter weather is treacherous for cars on the roads. Exercise caution as you travel, especially at night time.
