A news report featured a 13 year old boy who sustained serious injuries in an accident in Clearfield, Utah. The accident was said to have happened near 1100 South and 1000 East at about 7 p.m. of Wednesday.
According to the reporter, Sgt. Kyle Jeffries of the Clearfield Police Department disclosed in an email correspondence that the teenager was riding his skateboard at that time and for some reasons, he fell from his skateboard. A vehicle then struck him and rolled over the teen. The boy was pinned under the car for twenty minutes.
The boy was extracted from under the car by medical responders and was brought to the Primary Children’s Medical Center. He is listed in serious condition.
Apparently, the driver of the car did not see the fallen teenager and hence the accident.
Christensen & Hymas wishes the teenager fast recovery from his injuries. We also remind all motorists to be always on the lookout while on the road. While driving, you need to watch for other motorists and also for pedestrians. This is the reason why drivers cannot afford any form of distractions because accidents can happen in a blink of an eye.
Hopefully, the driver involved in this accident has a Personal Injury Protection (PIP) policy that can be used for the medical expenses of the hospitalized teenager. The teenager can also use the PIP policies of his parents if there is any.
Children and teenagers can be involved in an accident whether they are riding a car as passengers, walking as pedestrians, riding a bike or a skateboard in this matter. May parents always remind their children to observe safety measures while doing something outside their homes.
