A man identified as 19-year-old Ryan Hansen got a long list of charges after he allegedly crashed his car into power poles and school sign. Roy Police spokesman Bryce Weir said the man was driving east on 5600 South just before 1 p.m. when the accident happen. Ryan Hansen was reported to have fled from the scene by leaving his car to hide in one of the houses nearby.Power lines

The report stated that homeowners claimed that the man asked them to hide him from the police for which they agreed but secretly called the police later.

The police apprehended him and were able to determine his part in the incident that made Roy’s Rocky Mountain Power 1900 customers initially without power. The report added that the crash required police to shut down a few blocks of 5600 South until about 8 p.m. Weir said that it was an inconvenience because this road is a major artery in Roy and Monday afternoon is a rush hour.

Rocky Mountain Power spokeswoman Maria O’Mara said 1,000 customers had their power back an hour later. All but 63 customers had power by 5:45 p.m. while the rest were restored at 7:45 p.m., she added.

For all of these, police said that Ryan Hansen was arrested and charged for DUI drugs, driving on a denied license, leaving the scene of an accident, driving left of center, avoiding apprehension, trespassing a dwelling and theft Monday after he hit two power poles and a school crossing sign at 2050 W. 5600 South.
