A report disclosed that three people were sent to a hospital after a crash sent two cars into a Sandy canal. Police stated that a car carrying two people was rear-ended by another car driven by a person believed to be travelling at high speeds near 7700 South and 700 East.
The report added that the crash caused both vehicles to fall into the East Jordan canal. It was disclosed that the canal had only residual water and was six to eight inches deep.
Sandy City Police Sgt. Mark Soper stated that the three people involved in the accident were transported to the hospital for precautionary measures. They sustained some minor injuries and were reported to be in fair condition.
The crash is under investigation and the report stated that police are considering alcohol to be a factor in the accident.
