Flat tire

According to a news report, a Wyoming man was killed when he was hit by a car in Provo Canyon. The man was identified as Joseph Broadbent, 74, of Evanston.

The report disclosed Broadbent had stopped to change a flat tire on his pick-up truck when he was struck by oncoming traffic. Upon realizing he had a flat, Broadbent  pulled over to the right side of the road to change it around 8:30 p.m.. According to Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson, the vehicle was facing east on U.S. 189.

Authorities still do not know why, but Broadbent crossed the highway for an unknown reason. A witness observed the man starting to walk back across the highway to his truck when he stopped between lanes of traffic and was struck on the driver’s side of a vehicle. Utah Highway Patrol said the impact sent Broadbent into the next lane of traffic where he was run over by a small pick-up truck and received fatal injuries. These injuries caused his death.

Christensen & Hymas sends our condolences to the family and friends of Joseph Broadbent. It is difficult to lose a loved one in an accident.

We wish everyone safe days on the road. We also encourage all motorists to watch out for crossing pedestrians or for anything for safety purposes.
