A family consisting of a mother and three children were reported to have sustained injuries from a car wreck. One of the children was reported to be in serious condition and was flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center. The other children and the mother were listed with injuries but in fair condition.
The accident was a collision between a minivan and a truck near the intersection of 3500 South and 8000 West. The driver of the truck was treated at the scene and was released.
The children ranged in age from 11 months to 12 years old. Authorities believe that the child seats and seat belts that were used by the family had helped protect the them from sustaining serious injuries.
Capt. Clint Mecham, Unified Fire Authority, said without safety restraints the injuries could have been worse especially because the collision was a hard hit.
The report stated that police will investigate the wreck to determine what caused it and whether or not citations will be issued.
Christensen & Hymas is thankful that the mother placed the children in proper seat restraints. We wish for the full recovery of the child listed in serious condition. The wearing of seat belts and use of proper car seats for young children should be a habit among motorists. You never know when and how a car accident may happen and it is best to be protected and prepared. We also encourage everyone to share the road and observe traffic rules. Do not use excessive speed and please do not run red lights.
