Police arrested a woman identified as Trina Armijo, 25, last Saturday for allegedly driving drunk with two children in the car and colliding with a parked vehicle.
According to KSL, Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Gary Young stated that police received reports from two witnesses in Cottonwood Heights who claimed they saw a woman driving erratically; the witnesses suspected the influence of alcohol or drugs, or a medical emergency. One of the witnesses observed the woman strike a parked vehicle and continue driving. Young said that the witness followed the woman until she pulled into a driveway near 2400 East and Bengal Boulevard.
Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Gary Young stated that the two children, ages 2 and 5, who were in the vehicle at the time, did not suffer any injuries.
The woman was booked into Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of DUI with a passenger under 16 in the vehicle, driving without a licence or insurance, and possession of a controlled substance. It has also been disclosed that the children are being cared for by a neighbor until the Division of Child and Family Services becomes involved.
The report added that the police appreciate the public for their cooperation. Phone calls that give tips on public safety are always welcome.
