Failure to yield was identified as the reason for a car crash that happened near Wendover that injured five people.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, a couple in an SUV from California had just entered eastbound I-80 from a rest stop a
nd tried to go across several lanes of traffic to get to the median to do a U-turn to head west.
Utah Department of Public Safety spokesman Joe Dougherty stated that the vehicle, however, cut off an oncoming SUV that smashed into them.
Medical helicopter transported to the University Hospital a 69-year-old woman from one SUV for precaution. The report disclosed that a 37-year-old man from the other vehicle was flown to University Hospital in serious condition.
According to Dougherty, three other people were brought by ambulances to the same hospital. They were identified as a 70 year old man from one vehicle, a 34 year old man and a 59 year old woman. Their conditions were not immediately available.
The 69-year-old woman in the first SUV was cited for failure to yield, Dougherty said.
