Utah Highway Patrol stated that US-6, near Wellington, was closed because of an accident involving a Chevy pickup truck and a Nissan Pathfinder on Saturday. The accident resulted in critical injuries of all occupants of these two vehicles. Trooper Lawrence Hopper stated that the Chevy pickup was driving west when it experienced some kind of mechanical malfunction. One of the truck’s tires came off and it caused the truck to spin and veer into oncoming traffic where it was struck broadside by a Nissan Pathfinder around 5 p.m.
The trooper added that there were two adults and three children in the truck and two adults and two children in the Pathfinder. As previously mentioned, all occupants were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The report added that troopers worked to open a single lane in US-6 so that traffic could continue to move.
