ambulanceMemorial Day was marred by another vehicular accident in Provo Canyon involving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban and a 2008 Nissan Versa. Erin Lambert, 19 years old from Arizona, was the driver of the suburban. She and two eighteen year old female passengers, coming from Story Telling Park, made a right turn to head south on U.S. 189 and executed a U-turn to drive north. The Nissan Versa, on the other hand, was driving south at that time and unfortunately struck the left side of the suburban during the U-turn.

Lambert and her companions did not sustain any injuries, but she did receive a traffic citation for the accident. The Nissan Versa occupants were not as lucky. The driver of the Nissan Versa identified as Ruth Petersen, 44, of Springville broke her back in the accident. Petersen had an 18-year-old female passenger in the front seat that received back and rib injuries. A 16-year-old male passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was also injured in the accident on his right leg and side. A 12-year-old passenger received head injuries during the impact and was also not wearing a seat belt during the accident. All the passengers of the Nissan Versa were transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

We at Christensen and Hymas hope for the speedy recovery of the driver and passengers of the Nissan Versa. We urge everyone to be extra careful this summer. The months of June to August are the most critical months of the year, marked by increased traffic and activities.
