Gasoline Theif Runs Over and Seriously Injures Utah Store Clerk

KSL news reports that on Wednesday morning of April 28, 2010, a Maverick employee was run over and seriously injured by a gasoline thief.  The man was stealing gas at the Maverick gas station on 3500 West and 5600 South in Roy, Utah. The store clerk attempted to stop the thief from driving away but was instead involved in a hit-and-run car accident with the theif. The Maverick employee sustained broken shoulder, ribs and a punctured lung.

It is incredible that an individual is willing to hurt or even kill another over gasoline. This man now faces charges of felony assault and robbery. Fortunately, the store did get images from their cameras of the thief’s face and his North Dakota license plate number: 2928 BU. He is a suspect of two other gas thefts that occurred earlier this month in Clearfield and Layton Utah. Please contact the police if you have any information on this reckless and now dangerous individual.

Undoubtedly, the store clerk will have mounting medical bills and miss time from work due the injuries he sustained in this horrific Utah hit-and-run accident. Personal injury claims can be made on Workers Compensation Fund and the auto insurance company of the gasoline thief. It is important that this gasoline thief is found so that personal injury and criminal charges can be filed against this dangerous wrongdoer and that the store clerk will not be left financially responsible for these medical bills.

Bountiful Man Dies in Avalanche while Snowmobiling in Morgan County, Utah

Easter Sunday ended in tragedy for a Bountiful family. Around 2 p.m. on April 4, 2010, Lee Gardner, 43, was buried in an avalanche while snowmobiling in Morgan County, Utah. Although a friend was able to dig Lee Gardner out of the snow quickly, Mr. Gardner did not respond to CPR or regain consciousness. A medical helicopter arrived thirty minutes after the accident, but the emergency crew was unable to resuscitate Lee Gardner. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Gardner for their sudden and unfortunate loss.

April snowstorms are notorious for dumping feet of heavy wet snow throughout Utah Valley. We would like to remind Utah residents to be careful out on the slopes. The older icy packed snow on the slopes combined with the new wet snow and warmer temperatures create the perfect avalanche conditions. Most ski resorts have the U.S. Forest Service monitor snow conditions several times a day. Have fun and stay safe by sticking to areas that have proper avalanche safety control measures.
